I had been to Lowes, Home Depot and numerous other cabinet shops before going to Best Buy Floors.  Walking in, we were met by Aldo, Mia and Milo.  These three were with us throughout the entire project.  Aldo and Mia are a great team, working with us to get us our dream kitchen island.

They were able to incorporate all the things we wanted and still come in more than 30% less than Lowes or Home Depot.  We were able to even get the kitchen counters replaced for less than those were charging.

Even when we had bad experiences with one of their preferred vendors (MSI), they worked with us to find other vendors to go through.

When the reno threw us curveballs (water line in a pony wall, missing flooring), they were able to source professionals to help us keep moving forward at very reasonable prices.

The cheap carpet pad in my upstairs was deteriorating causing my carpet to ripple and look unsightly. I had already stretched it once about 2 years ago but then my two dogs also started marking certain spots so I finally decided to switch it all out. I opted for a waterproof Healthier Choice foam carpet pad and Shaw Pet+ carpet and asked for an additional cork 3mm underlayment beneath the pads to hopefully help with sound. Alex took his time and explained all of the carpeting types and their pros and cons.  We took home samples and he ordered samples that were mailed to our home at no charge to us.  We were not rushed to make a decision.  Once we purchased the carpet Alex was in constant contact with us with updates to status.  The customer service was outstanding!!  Junior came and measured for our carpet and he was very nice, helpful and spent a lot of time with us discussing flooring and even touched base with Alex regarding lead time and stock.  Diego and his partner did the install and did a beautiful job.  Very professional, friendly, and did a great clean-up and great job. Custom Area Rugs FAQs

How much does a custom area rug cost?

Three things set the price, and none of them is a flat rate. The carpet itself, priced by the square yard, which is where most of the variation lives and which ranges enormously between a basic polypropylene and a New Zealand wool. The finished size, since you are buying area. And the edge finish, where standard binding is the most economical, serging and wide binding step up, and leather binding is the premium.

A worked example: an 8×10 rug is 80 square feet, which is about 9 square yards, with 36 linear feet of edge to finish. Multiply the carpet’s square yard price by nine, add the binding for those 36 feet, and you have a realistic ballpark before you walk in. Our carpet calculator will do the area maths for any size.

How long does a custom rug take?

Usually about 4–6 weeks from the point when the size and selections are approved. Anything unusual in shape, or a carpet that has to be special-ordered, adds to that, and we will tell you at selection rather than after. Confirm the figure.

What edge finish should I choose?

Serging for a traditional, hand-finished look that blends into the carpet. Standard binding for a clean, economical edge that stays out of the way. Wide binding when you want the edge to read as a deliberate border, which is the cheapest way to make a simple carpet look bespoke. Leather binding when you want the rug to be the thing people notice. We will show you all four in person, since photographs flatten the difference.

Can you make round or odd-shaped rugs?

Yes, and that is most of the point. Round under a pedestal table, oval, L-shaped for a bay window or a corner, cut-outs around a hearth or a column, and runners in any length. We template anything irregular rather than working from a sketch, so the finished piece actually fits.

Do you make stair runners?

Yes, cut and bound from the same carpets, and installed by the crew that installs our wall-to-wall. Stairs are unforgiving work, since every tread and riser has to line up and the pattern has to stay true down the flight, which is why it is worth having the people who do it every week rather than the people who do it occasionally.

Can you match a rug to the carpet already in my house?

Often, yes. If the carpet is still in production, we can order more of the same broadloom and bind it, which is the neatest way to carry a material through into an adjoining room that is getting hard flooring. If it has been discontinued, we will find the closest current match and show you both together.

Can carpet remnants be turned into area rugs?

Yes, if the remnant is large enough for your finished size and the backing is suitable. This is one of the better value routes to a custom rug, especially for a runner or a smaller room, and it is worth asking what remnants we have when you come in.

Do I need a rug pad?

For almost every rug, yes. A pad stops the rug from traveling, adds noticeable cushion, and takes the abrasion that would otherwise wear the backing against the floor. The right pad depends on what is underneath: a grippier pad over hard flooring, a firmer low-profile one if the rug is going over carpet. We will match it to your floor rather than selling you one pad for everything.

Can you put an area rug over carpet?

Yes, and it is a good way to define a seating area in a large carpeted room or add color without replacing anything. Use a firm, low-profile pad made for carpet, since a soft one lets the rug shift and ripple. A rug with a stiffer backing sits better over carpet than a very flexible one.

What size rug do I need?

Living room: large enough that at least the front legs of every seating piece sit on it, ideally all legs, leaving around 18 inches of floor at the edges. Dining: the table plus 24 inches on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. Bedroom: 18 to 24 inches past the sides and foot of the bed, or a runner down each side. Standard sizes like 8×10 and 9×12 exist because they suit average rooms, and yours probably is not one. Bring measurements, and we will work out the actual number.

How do I look after it?

Vacuum regularly, deal with spills straight away rather than letting them set, and keep moisture to a minimum on natural fibers. Beyond that, it depends on the carpet, and we will give you the specific care guidance for yours. Wool in particular wants professional cleaning rather than a rented machine, and any rug with a natural backing dislikes the amount of water a carpet cleaner puts down.
